Auto Electrician/ Installation Technician

Description

Seeking a skilled and hands-on Fleet Management Technician to install, maintain, and troubleshoot FMX fleet management systems on a wide range of forklifts, vehicles and equipment.
The role involves electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic work, as well as the ability to integrate sensors, immobilisers, and control systems to ensure safe and efficient machine operation.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Install FMX fleet management systems on various forklift, vehicles and equipment.

  • Fit and connect gear controls, sensors, and wiring to manage and immobilise machines when required.

  • Install and connect:

    • Temperature sensors for water temperature monitoring.

    • Oil pressure sensors for low oil protection.

    • Low water sensors to immobilise forklifts.

    • Starter wire cut-outs for over-crank protection.

    • Fuel and starter cut-outs for shutdown and immobilisation.

    • Ignition wire connections to prevent access idle/ignition left on.

    • Speed sensors or wiring to monitor machine speed.

    • RPM wiring via the alternator to monitor revs.

    • Load protection systems.

  • Fit displays, ITag readers, and access control systems to machines.

  • Connect battery terminals (positive and negative) to enable fleet management functionality.

  • Perform fault-finding and repairs on FMX fleet management systems.

  • Communicate with the control room to test and confirm all system features are fully operational.

  • Work on forklift hydraulics and ensure systems comply with safety requirements.

  • Service and repair both new and old forklifts, including pallet jacks, ride-along units, reach trucks, and other forklift models.

  • Follow schedules and instructions accurately to complete work on time.

  • Forklift Licence (essential).

  • Auto electrical trade test certificate.
  • Proven hands-on experience with forklift, vehicle and equipment systems .

  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.

  • Ability to read, follow, and implement technical schedules and instructions.

  • Skilled in troubleshooting and diagnosing system faults.

  • Experience working with a wide range of forklift types and models, as well as vehicles and equipment.

  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

  • Willingness to liaise with control room teams and clients for system verification.
