National Installations Technical Manager

Our client, a leading national technology solutions provider, is looking for an experienced National Installations Technical Manager to lead the end-to-end delivery of installation projects across South Africa.

This senior leadership role is responsible for managing large-scale technical rollouts, driving operational excellence, optimising business systems, and ensuring successful project delivery while collaborating with multiple internal departments and external stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities

Installation Project Management

  • Lead the full lifecycle of national installation projects from initiation through to completion.
  • Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, resources, and timelines.
  • Monitor project delivery against milestones and operational capacity.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks.
  • Ensure successful handover into business-as-usual operations.
  • Coordinate internal and external stakeholders throughout project delivery.
  • Support Agile project methodologies where applicable.
  • Manage testing, deployments, and production releases.

Systems & Process Optimisation

  • Drive continuous improvement across installation workflows and operational processes.
  • Optimise field service and operational systems.
  • Lead system integration initiatives, testing, and implementation.
  • Ensure data integrity across operational platforms.
  • Support digital transformation and workflow automation initiatives.
  • Standardise national rollout methodologies and documentation.

Customer & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary liaison between customers and internal delivery teams.
  • Translate customer requirements into executable project plans.
  • Manage rollout schedules and customer expectations.
  • Ensure effective communication throughout project execution.
  • Lead project closure, documentation, and billing alignment.

Leadership

  • Lead and develop high-performing cross-functional teams.
  • Drive collaboration across technical, operational, sales, finance, and customer teams.
  • Champion change management and continuous improvement.
  • Foster a high-performance, customer-focused culture.

Financial Management

  • Manage project budgets and cost controls.
  • Track financial performance and resource utilisation.
  • Support forecasting, profitability analysis, and commercial reporting.
  • Manage vendor relationships and service-level agreements.
  • Drive operational efficiencies and cost optimisation.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with governance frameworks and industry standards.
  • Maintain project documentation and audit trails.
  • Support risk management and change control processes.
  • Participate in governance reviews and audit activities.

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • National Diploma in Engineering, Technical, Information Technology, Project Management or related field
  • Project Management Certification (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile or equivalent)
  • PSIRA Grade A Registration
  • Valid South African Driver’s Licence
  • Minimum 5 years’ project management experience within a technical or operational environment
  • Minimum 3 years’ management experience
  • Proven experience managing large-scale, multi-site rollouts
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional teams
  • Experience within field service, technical delivery or installation environments
  • Strong knowledge of project governance and operational optimisation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
